Obama met Wednesday with British Prime Minister David Cameron and French President Nicolas Sarkozy while at the United Nations General Assembly. They discussed an array of foreign policy and economic issues.
White House Press Secretary Jay Carney said Obama said Europe needs to take " forceful and decisive" action to deal with the crisis. Carney, speaking to reporters aboard Air Force One while en route to Ohio with the president on Thursday, said Obama also reiterated that he believes Europe has the capacity to deal with the debt crisis.
Fears about Europe's debt crisis have roiled financial markets, including the U.S. Obama and Treasury Secretary Timothy Geithner have been in close contact with their European counterparts over the crisis. |
