Reports that the Italian government has held talks with the Chinese sovereign wealth fund about investing in its debt-laden economy spurred a stock market rally and a boost to the euro Monday.

Folks, I am a retired investment banker and never have I seen such blatant manipulation of the stock market. In the final 38 minutes of trading today, the Dow rallied over 200 points on a story from a reporter at the Financial Times that a China Fund was going to buy Italy's bonds. When interviewed after the close this same reporter said that talks will probably not resume for weeks and that there is no guarantee anything will come of it. What makes this so despicable is that this reporter could have waited until after the market closed to air his opinion. Who benefited from the program trading which sent the market up over 200 points? And why won't the SEC investigate this atrocity? The SEC is in bed with the manipulators. They are like Sgt. Schultz: They see nothing, they know nothing, they hear nothing.
