The disappointing report on durable goods – J.P. Morgan gave it a grade of “D+” – certainly adds to the picture of a decelerating U.S. economy. A handful of Wall Street firms on Wednesday trimmed their estimates for first-quarter growth and raised the odds of a sharper second-quarter slowdown than previously believed.
