Color me confused. I am just a bit surprised that the loose smattering of bailout details from Europe was enough to move stocks higher on Wednesday. But, as often is the case, the first reaction is not always the lasting reaction. Meaning that as more specifics on the plan emerge then investors could react quite differently.
That certainly was the case in October 2008 when the US government unveiled the TARP program. Stocks initially rallied for a couple weeks. Then the bear market resumed wreaking havoc through March of 2009. I’m not saying that will be case here. Simply, things can change. And for me, there is not enough proof to get bullish just based upon this news.
On the home front we will be served up 3rd quarter GDP on Thursday morning. The consensus stands at +2.5%. For as surprisingly strong as that sounds, there are enough concerns about future growth that reaction to the report may be muted.
Add it all up, and there is a serious lack of clarity. And when that is the case the key is to not “blow yourself up”. Don’t be too bullish or bearish. When clarity emerges there will be plenty of opportunity to jump on the bandwagon.作者: aimei 时间: 2011-10-26 21:51
