Yesterday's stock market craziness spawned a lot of wild conspiracy theories.
Perhaps the most interesting was the rumor that Goldman Sachs [GS 91.84 -2.74 (-2.9%) ] was shorting shares of Morgan Stanley [MS 13.745 -0.265 (-1.89%) ].
"Everyone thought Goldman was shorting Morgan Stanley, so people started buying Morgan to hurt Goldman," one hedge fund manager told me.
