Complete Genomics GNOM +14.24% shares rose 15%. The company and BGI-Shenzhen said on Monday that entered into a definitive merger agreement, under which the Chinese company will buy out all Complete Genomics shares at a price of $3.15 each.
Office Depot ODP +6.72% shares rose 10%. Hedge fund Starboard Value LP said in a letter to the company’s management that it owns 13.3% of the company, making it the largest holder of Office Depot shares. The letter included several suggestions that management might pursue to increase shareholder value.
Tesla Motors TSLA +5.17% shares rose 7%. Morgan Stanley analysts upgraded to buy its rating on the car maker specializing in battery-driven technology.
Waste Connections WCN +7.69% shares gained 6%. The company said it had cut a deal to acquire the business and operating subsidiaries of R360 Environmental Solutions Inc. for approximately $1.3 billion in cash.

Cliffs Natural Resources CLF -6.52% shares traded down 6%. J.P. Morgan analysts cut its rating to neutral.
Netflix Inc. NFLX -5.41% fell 5%. Macquarie Securities initiated coverage of the company with an underperform rating.
Threshold Pharmaceuticals THLD -23.22% shares fell 28%. The company said it will present data on clinical trials of its pancreatic cancer treatment at the European Society for Medical Oncology in Vienna next week. |
