[转贴] Obama, Citing Buffett, Will Propose Wealthiest Pay More

President Barack Obama will propose on Monday that individuals making more than $1 million per year be required to pay at least the same percentage of their earnings in taxes as middle-class workers, the New York Times reported Saturday on its website, citing anonymous sources within the administration.
Obama will call it the "Buffett Rule, the Times said, in a nod to Berkshire Hathaway (BRKA, BRKB) Chief Executive Warren Buffett, who has on several occasions complained that billionaires such as himself don't pay nearly enough tax. He wrote an op-ed piece explaining his position in the Times on Aug. 14 under the headline "Stop Coddling the Super-Rich." Buffett said that extremely wealthy people who make most of their money from investments rather than from salary are taxed at a lower rate than if they made all their money from a salary.

The Times said the details of the tax-code change won't be immediately disclosed and that it was unclear how much added revenue such a change would bring.
